Mumbai Port has long been the principal gateway to India and has played a pivotal role in the development of the national economy, trade & commerce and prosperity of Mumbai city in particular. The port has achieved this position through continuous endeavor to serve the changing needs of maritime trade. Though traditionally designed to handle general cargo, over the years, the port has adapted to changing shipping trends and cargo packaging from break bulk to unitisation/palletisation and containerisation. Besides, it has also developed specialised berths for handling POL and chemicals. For decades, Mumbai Port was India’s premier port. Even today, with the development of other ports, it caters to 10% of the country’s sea-borne trade handled by Major Ports of the country in terms of volume. It caters about 19% of POL Traffic handled by Major Ports.

Age as on 1.2.2016: Not below 25 years and not over 40 years. (Relaxation applies).
Salary: (Rs.16300-38200).
Essential Details:
1) SSC or its equivalent examination passed.
2) License to operate VHF(Inland Maritime).
3) Proficient in use of Computer.
4) At least 5 years experience of sailing on a ship as Radio Officer or Junior Navigating Officer or should have held the post of Chief Petty Officer who is Radar Plotter from the Indian Navy.
5) Ability to swim.
6) Preference will be given to candidates who have sailed on a ship as Radio Officer and have 2nd Class/ Special Class certificate of proficiency in Radio Telegraphy (Maritime Mobile).

(i) Candidates must apply in the prescribed format given below (which can also be downloaded from website www.mumbaiport.gov.in) along with copies of certificates of qualifications, certificates regarding computer proficiency and caste certificates.
(ii) Applications should be submitted along with a Demand Draft for Intimation Charges/ Application Fees (NonRefundable) mentioned in para (H) above from any Scheduled Bank drawn in favour of “The Board of Trustees of the Port of Mumbai” payable at Mumbai, mentioning name and post applied on reverse of the Demand Draft.
(iii) Applications should be forwarded to the Sr. Dy. Secretary, Mumbai Port Trust, Port House, Shoorji Vallabhdas Marg, Ballard Estate, Mumbai-400001 so as to reach not later than 22.02.2016. The envelope should be superscribed “Application for the post of VTMS Operator Gr II”.
