Unique identification project was initially conceived by the Planning Commission as an initiative that would provide identification for each resident across the country and would be used primarily as the basis for efficient delivery of welfare services. It would also act as a tool for effective monitoring of various programs and schemes of the Government.
a) The concept of a unique identification was first discussed and worked upon since 2006 when administrative approval for the project –"Unique ID for Below Poverty Line (BPL) families" was given on 03 March 2006 by the Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.

Essential Qualification: i. Holding analogous posts in the same scale of pay, or ii. having 5 yrs experience in the scale of Rs.g300- 34800+4200/- c.P.
Desirable: Two yrs experience in Adm n./Estt./B udgeting/proc uremenvPlanning & policy formulation/ implementation of Govt. schemes and projects. Excellent computer skills.
Field of selection: officers of central Govt./state Govt./UTs/psUs/Autonomous Bodies.
Pay scale: Rs. 9,300 -34,800/- per Month.
Eligibility for Government Accommodation: The officer appointgd in the UIDAI will be eligible for General Pool Residential accommodation at par with centrat Government employees.
